So far this school year VHS seniors have covered 10 landmark court cases in their Government class. Last week, the students tested on the cases by drawing their knowledge of the court cases in shaving cream. Teacher Brett White said it was pretty cool to see their "vision" of the case.

Last week, our medical assistant students did a research project on MA jobs anywhere in the world. In their research they included information about salary, housing and utilities, accommodations such as transportation, food, and details about their job description/area of focus. CNA/MA instructor Candace Adams then incorporated their research into a game of Life using their careers, salary and housing information. The point of this was to show them the reality of the field of healthcare and the fact that you DON’T have to have a college degree (although it is encouraged) to be able to make a living and live LIFE! Our winner was Litzy Ayala who worked as an MA doing a travel gig in Seattle, WA and lived in a hotel while working. She finished out her “life” with $1.6 million!

In support of Vernon's biggest Lion fan, VHS is providing a way for all students and staff to attend the funeral of our beloved Kathy Burnett. Students and teachers will follow a pep rally schedule and will be released at 2:40 pm on Friday. If you, as a parent, plan for your child to attend, your student will need to be signed out in the office to be released to the services. Vernon High School will forever hold Kathy in our hearts and will keep the family in our thoughts and prayers during this most difficult of times. We will always remember her unwavering support and loyalty to our students and forever be thankful for the impact she made on so many young lives. Parents can begin calling tomorrow to give permission for their students to be released at 2:40 on Friday.
