It's Turkey Time at VES!! Well, Turkey Bowl Time that is. The Turkey Bowl competition begins tomorrow and will continue until Thursday, Nov. 16. During that time, each classroom will try to clothe a bald turkey poster with the most feathers. Feathers can be purchased during lunch periods for .25 cents each. The top classroom in each grade level will then compete in the Turkey Bowl with a chance to win a frozen turkey.
This is also a great fundraiser for our Student Council. Check out the rest of the story here: https://ves.vernonisd.org/o/ves/article/1332261

Every second and third grade student in Mrs. Sandie Parmer's art classes are represented in this wall art that was hung Thursday afternoon in the front hall of the Vernon Elementary School building. The students were instructed to put a dot in the center of their paper and to paint circles until the whole page was covered in paint.
The next week, students cut their papers into fourths and they re-glued the squares together by following an example they were given. After that, Mrs. Parmer glued all the papers onto bulletin board paper.
The final size of the project was 15 feet by 9 feet. #Better Together is the saying that has been used in staff communications all year as the Central and Shive campuses were joined to form the new elementary school. Mrs. Parmer said both campuses eagerly anticipated the move into the new school in hopes that everyone would benefit from being under the same roof.
Approximately 250 students participated in the project, and the hope is that the fourth and fifth graders will contribute to the wall quilt in the 2nd semester of school.
Mrs. Parmer also gave a big "Thank you," to the maintenance guys for hanging the wall paper quilt.

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow is an Early Release Friday for Vernon ISD.
