
National Teacher Appreciation Week is just two weeks away (May 5-9) and we want to have a little fun every day of that week and celebrate our teachers. So, each day we have a dress-up theme. Students, teachers and staff -- take a look and starting planning your wardrobe!!


Tuesday was Earth Day and 4th grade students put their art talents to work in Science class, as they created earth-related drawings to celebrate. A big Thank You to Vernon's United Supermarket for donating paper sacks to be used as the canvas for the artwork. #UnitedSupermarket











Vernon ISD would like to wish all of our administrative assistants a great day on THEIR day -- National Administrative Professional's Day! VISD would not be able to run effectively and efficiently if it were not for the hard work and dedication of our administrative assistants at all of our campuses and offices.


Today is School Bus Driver Appreciation Day and Vernon ISD has some of the best school bus drivers there is!! They safely transport our students every day throughout the school year. We can't thank them enough for the outstanding job they do for VISD!


On Friday our 5th grade students went on a Math Easter Egg Hunt. Inside the Easter Eggs were math problems the students had to solve. Just a fun way for the students to test their math skills.











We hope all of our students and their families, our teachers and all of our staff have a happy Easter.


Last week students in our Gifted & Talented Program exhibited their art pieces at the Red River Valley Museum. We have some aspiring artists!! A big Thank You to the museum for allowing our students to display their art in the museum.











Vernon ISD will operate under normal school hours on Friday, however school is closed Monday for the Easter Holiday. Students, teachers and staff will return to school Tuesday. We hope everyone has a wonderful Easter.


Today our 2nd grade students left school and headed North across the Red River, as they took a field trip to Quartz Mountain State Park.







Our Vernon All-Star Olympics are two weeks away!! We're currently needing a few items -- 6 frisbees and 6 yoga balls. Donations of water and sports drinks (Powerade/Gatorade) are still being accepted. Thank you to all who have already donated items. If you wish to donate, you can bring items to the Vernon Middle School office.


Yesterday afternoon, members of the Vernon Police Department presented a donation to the Vernon All-Star Olympics to some of our Vernon Middle School All-Star Olympic athletes. The donation comes from the Battle of the Badges charity basketball game that pitted the Vernon Police Department against the Vernon Fire Department. The departments decided to split the money donated during the game evenly, with the Vernon PD giving their portion to our All-Star Olympics. The Vernon All-Star Olympics will be held Wednesday, April 30, at Leo Brittain Field at Lion Stadium.


Today marks the first day of the last six weeks of school!! Summer is just around the corner and if you're trying to find something that's both fun and educational to keep your children busy, Vernon ISD has several Summer Enrichment Camps to be held June 9-12. Youngsters get a special treat this week, as the Easter Bunny will be in Vernon for a visit!! The Easter Bunny will at Vernon College tomorrow!!! From 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., stop by the Osborne Administration Building and let your children say hi to the Easter Bunny!!

Our first STAAR test will be given on Thursday. Please, check out the information below and the helpful tips to make sure your student has the opportunity to do their very best on those testing days. This week is the first of three consecutive weeks for our students to take a STAAR test (April 16, April 24).


Wednesday, April 30, our VISD All-Star athletes will get their chance to shine at our Vernon All-Star Olympics!! This is a warm-up for our athletes, who will go on to compete at Altus in an Area All-Star Olympics event in May. Donations are currently being accepted to help make our Vernon All-Star Olympics extra-special!! Come on out to Lions Stadium on April 30 and cheer on our All-Star athletes!
