Several organizations from the community will be on hand to provide information on all the services that are available to help families in Vernon and the surrounding area. There will also be some games, a bounce house, face painting, and free popcorn. Come on out and enjoy the fun.

A student group from Mrs. Courtney Jansa's 3rd grade class gave a presentation on their volcano project to VISD trustees during their monthly board meeting Monday evening. Members of the group, Ainsley McIntosh, Anna Genson and Nathaniel Miller, had a powerpoint that went over their project and how they incorporated language arts and math into the science project. One member of their group, Nevaeh Lockhart, was unable to attend the meeting. VISD Supt. Dr. Ward presented the students with recognition certificates after their presentation.

Prior to Spring Break, the VES Student Council started a blanket/sock drive, with items collecting going to residents at Advanced Rehabilitation and Healthcare. Today, on "International Happiness Day" members of the Student Council distributed the items at Advanced Rehab, and it was hard to tell who had more fun -- the students or the residents, who enjoyed talking with the youngsters.
There was also a contest at each grade level for the class that could collect the most items. The winning classes were: 2nd Grade -- Mrs. Wendler; 3rd Grade -- Ms. White; 4th Grade -- Mrs. Inman; and 5th Grade -- Mr. Chance. All the winning classes will receive a popcorn party.
Thanks to everyone who donated to our blanket/sock drive!! It was a great success because of you!

We hope your student has been having fun and learning lots of new things about helping their hearts and helping others! You're doing our community a HUGE favor by helping to bring the awareness to heart disease, stroke, and CPR. The awareness leads to funding, and the funding leads to hope to ANYONE with a heart!
Can you help us by: thinking of 10 family or friends who love to help and send them a message through the VES KHC page or app!? http://www2.heart.org/site/TR?fr_id=11259&pg=company&company_id=479759

QUICK REMINDER!!
It is "Pajama For A Purpose Day" tomorrow! Students and staff at all campuses who want to wear their pajama pants (appropriate for school) Thursday may do for a $3 donation. The fundraiser is for a VMS student who lost all of their belongs in a recent house fire. Each campus will have a process in place to collect donations and identify those students who paid to wear their pajama pants.
