Earlier this week the Texas Department of State Health Services released new COVID guidelines. Please read the information below:
The Texas Department of State Health Services has updated its school exclusion criteria to align the requirement for COVID-19 with those for other respiratory viruses like flu. Recently, the kindergarten students in Mrs. Sara Reeder’s GT Class planned, created, and tested structures to solve the problems in common Fairy Tales. They constructed a bridge to escape the troll, built a house that would withstand the wolf blowing on it, and helped Goldilocks by building chairs strong enough to support all the bears.

All VISD campuses and the Administration Building are closed for spring break. Classes will resume and regular office hours will resume on Monday, March 18.

Vernon ISD will not have school Friday, since it was on the school calendar as a make up day for inclimate weather and we have not missed any days due to bad weather. After Friday, VISD will officially be on our spring break. All school campuses and offices will be closed the week of March 11-15. Classes resume on Monday, March 18. We hope everyone has a fun and safe spring break!

It is with great regret that I must inform you that we had to cancel this year’s yearbook. Due to staffing changes and with the number of days left in the school year, we would hate to produce something not up to our standards. If you order a yearbook, your order will be canceled. If you purchased a yearbook already, your order has been canceled and you should have received a refund to the account in which it was paid from. If you have any further questions, please contact myself or Scott Hogue, Principal of McCord Elementary.

Spring Break is almost here, but your student may need their jacket during the break. TODAY ONLY- Lost jackets, hats, and water bottles will be placed outside on the 1st grade playground fence for pick up from 2:30-6:00pm.

This week is National School Social Work Week and we want to thank our Vernon ISD social worker, Nicole Cameron, for all she does for our students, staff and community!
