This week, April 15-19, is Public School Volunteer Week. Vernon ISD greatly appreciates all of our volunteers, PTO members and Dudes on Duty throughout VISD for taking time to help out on our campuses and invest in our students. DATE CHANGES!!
Please note the changes on the dates for the McCord Muffins With Moms and Donuts With Dads events. Your child loves it when you are able to take part in school activities. If are unable to attend these events, please ask someone to take your place. We would love for all of our students to have someone with them for these events.



Our lifeskill students will be participating in their very own All-Star Olympics that will be held Monday, April 29. There will be 17 McCord/VES students, 10 VMS students and 6 VHS students participating in the event.
During Opening Ceremonies, our athletes will be led around the track by the Roarin' Lion Band. An awards ceremony with pizza will be held at the conclusion of all the events. Anyone wishing to make a donation to the event may take the donation to school principals or to Jana Neely at Central. Checks need to be made out to VISD-Vernon Olympics.
Our students will also compete in another All-Star Olympics on May 2, in Altus.

Last week the Kindergarten Gifted & Talented students researched facts about eclipses in order to help them prepare and understand the total solar eclipse that is happening today. After practicing her presentation with Mrs. Sara Reeder and Mrs. Ashley Bloom, Macy presented her project to the students in Mrs. Twaleena Weddle's class.

While work continues on getting the Vernon ISD/Child Care Partners Daycare Center ready to open later this spring, the facility received its first major donation Thursday afternoon. The $10,000 donation was from Atmos Energy and was presented to Child Care Partners Executive Director Keri Goins and Vernon ISD Assistant Principal Blaise Boswell by Atmos representative Pam Hughes-Pak.
